There are so many incredibly talented people in the lash world. Not just the big names on social media, but even in our own towns. It's completely understandable that it can make you feel intimidated or like an outsider if you feel that you’re not up to their par. I’ve dealt with it. My first “training” was 30 minutes long and I was sure that I was a fake for not being amazing right away. Imposter syndrome can make or break you, so I’m going to tell you how I moved past it.

IT ALL COMES DOWN TO MINDSET

Imposter mindset says  “I don’t know how to do this and I don’t know how I will ever figure it out.”

A growth mindset says “I don’t know how to do this YET but I AM going to figure it out”

How to go from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset

1- Start embracing challenges as a blessing rather than a burden. You grow when there are challenges - not by staying the same. Just like in a video game, you get the best loot and power ups by defeating the boss battles.

2- Use your setbacks as lessons and your failures as opportunities to learn and grow. Now when you come upon a similar challenge, you already know the path NOT to take, hooray! So when a clients lashes all fall off after 1 day or when they come back to you with complaints, instead of feeling defeated, use that as an opportunity to learn how to fix it and avoid that situation in the future.

3- Celebrate others' success instead of feeling threatened by it. People who end up celebrating others end up more grateful, happier and with lower stress levels. I promise there are more than enough clients to go around and you are better off befriending that local lash artist that intimidates you a bit.

Everything happens on a mental level before it manifests on the physical level. That's why it's important to get your mindset right. You will find what you are thinking about and looking for!

Let it propel you forward into your dream life, instead of paralyzing you into self doubt and comfort.

Now go out there, take the training, ask the questions and become the best lash artist you can be!
